Omicron is basically the 15th letter of the greek alphabet. Due to the various mutation of the novel variant of corona virus world health organization named as omicron.

World health organization has not yet suggest that the symptoms of the new variant is same like the other variant or not.

What it is?

It is new heavily mutated corona virus variant also known as B.1.1.529 and is now designated as a variant of concern by world health organization.

When Omicron first detected?

The earliest and first simple of omicron was detected on 11 November 2021.

Where Omicron first detected?

The first case of Omicron was detected at Botswana an African country located near South Africa and Namibia.

Why are we worried about it ?

Omicron has more then 30 mutations on its spike protein (face) that’s more then double what’s carry by delta raising concern if prior infections still provide some immunity.

Is it more Transmissible?

It is not yet clear that the transmitting of this is more rapid as compared to the other or not. however from its detection within two weeks it has outpaced delta and become the dominant stain in Gauteng province where there is a surge of cases. It’s Ro value is 1.93 as compare to delta at 1.47.

Wash your hand with sanitizer after every twenty minute.

Avoid hand shaking:

Avoid hand shaking as much as possible.

Keep distance:

Keep social distance minimum two meter.

Cover your face:

Cover your face and wear mask.
